your right, it is. and that would also depend on the pouches your using and were they are set up, with most however, a 1911 would be faster to pull out than reloading an AK47 or an M16. as for shotguns im not even going to go there
In airsoft, past 60 or 70ft and it wouldn't matter.  I could reload without taking my eye out my sight and lay down bursts before you could get your pistol out of the holster and on target.

i always run with the pistol un-cliped, i can pull it out very fast and get my eye on target faster than i can reload. yes it is a pistol so shooting the pistol from >70ft would just waste ammo, shooting close than that like 20-60 ft would be better

So you leave your holster unsnapped? Smart.

the holster i have the pistol has never came out, plus the hard plastic piece that holds the piece in is still tight when its un-clipped and the gun only comes out on a tough pull

yes, i am aware but we got off topic and with the fast re-load thing, im saying that you can do that with a holster from that era too, it also is the user's choice, if they are good with pistols then use it, if not don't. but if you are then load yourself up with one. the DID have them, though most did not

You say it like that is a lot. Have you ever been outside for more than 2 hours at a time or done anything physical?

and did they carry a backpack around?
Seriously?

This isn't COD.
